l  "Invention" means a new technical solution to a product, method or improvement thereof.

l  Invention patents protect the technical scheme to realize a product or method, and can therefore be divided into product inventions and method inventions.

l  Invention patents require higher technical content, especially higher requirements for novelty and creativity, and high stability of rights after authorization.

l  An invention patent application has to go through five stages of acceptance, preliminary examination, publication, substantive examination and authorization/rejection, and it generally takes at least 18 months for the application result to be issued.

l  The term of protection of an invention patent shall be 20 years.
